Granny is going strong. She isn't getting any stronger but it doesn't seem like she is getting weaker right now. Her stomach is so bloated that she looks about 10 months pregnant. The doctors have tried a tube up her rectum to relieve the pressue but it doesn't work. The hospice doctor recommended putting a bunch of dark colored towels around her for when she finally exploded. That sounds so bad but he said it is coming. With all of our technology of today there is not much we can do but wait.
Granny had a few minutes the other night when she knew everything and everybody and she said she didn't want to have any surgeries and she was ready to go home, she missed her husband and her son.
A couple nights ago Muffin, the poodle, followed mom into granny's bedroom to be put up on the bed with granny, like she does every night, to go to sleep. She walked in and stood next to granny's bed for a couple minutes and then bolted out of the room and now refuses to go back in there. My aunt thinks it is because of the spirits that are in the room with her, waiting and helping her get ready to go "home".
I have moved Emma into Ethan's room to sleep because granny wakes up so much each night and will turn her bedside lamp on and off and ask for help. Mom will get up and sit with her but there isn't much she can do. Mom and I take turns sitting with her, mom way more than I am though. I was so worried before mom left for Canada that I wouldn't be able to care for granny properly if something were to happen when mom was gone. I found that I am strong enough to take care of her. I just have to make myself understand I have the strength to go sit by her bed now.
In other parts of my life Ethan and Emma are fine. Emma is bringing home excellent grades so far. Ethan is getting great reports from his aide. Harley is teething and has a cold. He is getting up alot at night but Scott is getting up with him because he isn't working again. He still has his job, Thank Goddes, but his left knee is blown. He injured it when he was in the Marines and hurt it again back in January. He woke up two mornings ago and couldn't put any weight on it. I took him to the doctor and they took x-rays and then yesterday he had an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon and they did the mri and we go back in another week to find out the results of the mri and find out when they will be operating. The doctor wrote a note for Scott to take to work that said he needs to be off of work and off his leg until next Thursday.
I am trying so hard not to stress about money. He might get one paycheck today for the past three weeks of work but we won't find out until after 2pm today.
There are thousands of people right now so much worse off than we are and I am making myself think that we will all be ok. Our local Child, Youth, and Family Service division will be accepting donations of diapers, formula, and other items babies need and send them to the Hurricane Katrina victims. I am going to buy some stuff to take to them so I can help out in some way.
The people of Hurricane Katrina are in our thoughts and prayers and we just wish there is more that we can do
