2 weeks to live

Granny is home now.  She was brought home in an ambulance.  Or as my daughter asked last night "When will Granny be delivered back home?"

The doctor has down in her medical chart as terminal with only 2 weeks to live.  They were finally able to find out what is wrong with her.

She has a ruptured bowl.  The only way to repair it is with surgery.  There is not a doctor in the hospital that will perform the surgery because of her age and the Alzheimers.

So her doctor noted her chart as terminal, set up for hospice to come help mom at home, set up for the ambulance to "deliver" her home, and sent her home with morphine patches.  And lots of diapers.

Mom went out last night, after spending 9 hours at the hospital, and bought a plastic mattress cover for granny's mattress.  We put that on her mattress and made her bed.  We didn't think that she would be home today but it's a good thing we went ahead to ready her room.  Did I spell mattress right, I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

The doctors gave mom the option of looking for another doctor in another hospital that might try.  Mom discussed it with my aunt, uncle, myself, my granny's youngest sister (who is still in her right mind), and one of her nephews (because he is Chief ER doctor at some hospital in Wisconsin).  All of us agreed to not look for another doctor.  She wouldn't want to have surgery.  It took something like this to find out we had a Chief ER Doc in our family.

So she is settled back in her own bed with her morphine patch.  And 2 weeks, at most, left on this earth.  And she would rather be in heaven with her Heavenly Father and her husband.

She is done with the earth and her body.  It is just a husk of a body.  Just paper-thin skin and bones.  There is no life left in her eyes.

I'll be flying to Minnesota soon.  Scott doesn't want me to go and I can't get a reason out of him.  I'll be taking Harley with me but leaving Ethan and Emma here with him.  That might be the reason but I'm not sure.  Every time I try to talk to him about it he gets mad and either walks away or changes the subject.

Maybe I should take all 3 kids.  I'm not sure yet.  I wonder what kind of price that would be.  Flying from Durango, CO to Minneapolis-St. Paul.  Not sure, need to do some researching.

Time to research.
